Upon finishing the detailing we performed on 7 custom classic cars for Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2014, the cars were taken to the event and auctioned off Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. The cars detailed were a 1948, 1950, and a 1951 custom Cadillac convertible, a 1959 Cadillac Flattop, a 1968 Pontiac GTO, a 1962 Lincoln Continental, and a 1940 Plymouth coupe completely custom with a Viper engine, drive-train, and Baer brakes. Details, details. The devil is in the details, and details are what make Kyle Clark, 27, tick. He founded and owns his mobile Xtreme Detailing business based in Fontana that covers a 45-mile radius in the IE. He mostly shines up cars, trucks, RVs, SUVs, boats and motorcycles. But three weeks ago his mentor in Big Bear, Renny Doyle, well-known in the detailing world, tapped him to join an elite group of 33 experts in Seattle. Earlier this month this team spent a week cleaning up a paragon in American aviation history — the original presidential jet known as Air Force One. Led by Doyle, Clark and the rest of the crew restored the shine on the AFO Boeing 707-120 at Seattle’s Museum of Flight. The detailers also worked on the first Boeing 737 in production. The AFO SAM (Special Air Missions) 970 was a flying Oval Office for U.S. Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon, but now sits on the tarmac at the Museum of Flight, exposed to Seattle’s infamous climate and torrential rains. For more information on the 2013 Air Force One & the 1st 737 project at the Seattle Museum of Flight, contact Kyle Clark of Xtreme Detailing at 909-208-3308.
