Recently the pros over at Wolfeboro Carwash & Executive Detail had the opportunity to restore the paint on a black Plymouth Prowler. The prowler's modern street rod body is unique, relatively rare and deserves a pristine paint job. There was a somewhat limited run of the prowler only being produced in the 1997 & 1999-2002 model years by Chrysler and Plymouth.
Interestingly they only offered the Prowler in purple in 1997 but expanded the color pallet in 1999-2002. If you see a black Prowler chances are it is a 1999 or a 2000 unless it is a repaint. Like any commodity, it is better to have as many original features remaining as possible to maintain or increase its value. This car was no exception which is why the customer chose to have the paint corrected rather than repainting.
A full hand wash was performed after removing all of the loose dirt from the vehicle followed by a cleaning of the wheels and tires. The paint was then decontaminated using a claying process followed by a thourough inspection of the paint to located any potential issues that could arise in the paint correction process. After some spot sanding to remove larger scratches the car was compounded and polished finished with a long lasting paint sealant. After finishing up the wheels and tires the interior was detailed and the car was ready to go home.
